Reliability
A backup is a claim. This one is checked.
Every disk, USB and NAS run reads back what it wrote before it calls itself done.
Not done until it’s read back.
Each file is read back and compared with its manifest. On disk, USB and NAS; not on cloud.
- SHA-256 per file, checked again at restore
- The report says how many files were checked
- Encrypted too, if you like: AES-256, from Home
When a drive is pulled
Pull the drive out. Nothing breaks.
The run waits up to fifteen minutes for the drive, then carries on or stops cleanly.
- 1
Pulled mid-run
The run pauses: Waiting for the destination.
- 2
Plugged back in
The backup carries on by itself.
- 3
Still gone
After fifteen minutes it stops, and says so.
A half-written set never passes for a whole one. A restore can wait for the drive too.
It understands chains.
Keep by age or by count. A chain is removed whole, never cut from the middle.

“Keep 7 days”: the first week’s chain goes, whole, once its newest set is more than 7 days old.
Keep by count in every edition; by age and rotation from Home.
Every error has a number and a fix.
What happened, what to do, and a button that does it.
