Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once and own the licence. A year of updates and support is included. When it ends, nothing stops: you keep every version released in that year, and renew only if you want newer ones.
What happens when the year of updates ends?
Backups keep running and restores keep working. New versions need a renewal, and Ask Genie drops to the Free allowance of 10 prompts a month. The app tells you the date, and the price before you renew.
Do I need to reinstall when I upgrade?
No. Enter the key in the app under Account, or sign in, and the edition switches on the spot. Jobs, backups and settings stay as they are.
Can I restore on the Free edition?
Yes, always. There is no edition check anywhere on the restore path: not on Free, not after a trial, not after a licence lapses, not for encrypted sets or sets from another PC.
What does the trial do when it ends?
Every trial is fifteen days, of Home or Pro, with no account, e-mail or key. From six days out the app tells you how long is left. When it ends, backups pause until you choose: buy an edition, or keep up to two jobs on Free. Nothing is deleted, and restore always works.
Can I use Home for my business?
No. Free and Home are for personal, non-commercial use. A business, or any other organisation, needs Pro, for up to five PCs, or Server; for more PCs, talk to sales.
Can I get my money back?
Yes. Within 14 days of buying a licence from Genie9, ask for a full refund, no questions asked. The licence is then cancelled: jobs you set up keep running, new ones follow Free, and restore always works. Renewals are not refunded.
Why is Ask Genie limited to a number of prompts?
Every prompt is answered by a model that costs money, so each edition includes a monthly allowance. The app always shows how many you have left.
