Storage Tiering
BigMind automatically optimizes storage costs using three tiers. Hot Storage provides instant access for active files. Cold Storage (6-month minimum, 3-5 hour restore) offers significant savings for infrequent data. Deep Freeze (12-month minimum, 12-48 hour restore) provides the lowest cost for long-term archival. Policies can automate file movement based on age or access patterns.
Desktop Agent
A native Go-based agent supports Windows 10+, macOS 11+, and Linux. Designed for scale, it handles 10M+ files per device with under 200MB memory usage. Features include incremental backup, bandwidth throttling, VSS support for open files, and remote management via the web dashboard.
AI Lens
An intelligence layer applied to backed-up data. AI Lens provides face detection and grouping, image labeling, OCR text extraction, and industry-specific modules for healthcare (DICOM viewer with clinical tools), legal (document classification), and more. All processing uses local models for privacy — no data leaves your infrastructure.
Unlimited File Versioning
Every file change is captured as a new version with no time limits and no version count caps. Users can browse the complete change history and restore any previous version instantly.
WORM Compliance
Write Once Read Many (WORM) storage ensures files cannot be modified or deleted during retention periods. Two modes are available: Protected Mode (admin can override in emergencies) and Compliance Vault Mode (no one can delete, including administrators). Meets SEC 17a-4, FINRA, and HIPAA requirements.
Collaboration
Team Drives enable internal team collaboration with shared folders, comments, and real-time access. Client Workspaces allow secure external sharing without requiring recipients to have BigMind accounts. Both include granular permissions, file comments with reactions, and activity tracking.
Automation Hub
Four automation pillars: Storage Lifecycle rules automatically tier files based on age. Retention Rules enforce keep/delete policies. Alerts notify on quota thresholds, backup failures, or compliance events. Scheduled Reports deliver analytics on a recurring basis.
