During virus scans or computer slowdowns, you can pause or snooze backup jobs that are about to run until after this resource consuming process finishes.


Browse the internet and backup: Backup to remote locations using FTP and Genie Online Backup as GBM optimizes bandwidth usage for uploaded backups. However, if you need to use the Internet, you can perform bandwidth throttling to limit how much bandwidth GBM uses to backup to GBM’s secure Genie Online Backup storage servers. Or limit bandwidth when backing up to an FTP location.


Save Energy: Have you ever left your computer on during a backup? With Power options you can set a backup job on completion to logoff, hibernate, suspend or shutdown your computer. You can even navigate to these options through the system tray (notification tray) residing GBM Agent and quickly run a backup and set it to shutdown without the need to open the GBM itself. If your backup fires off when staying late at work, you can simply disable power options or change the setting during backup. Laptop running on batteries will stay running as you can set the option not to start the backup if the laptop is running on batteries until you have mains power.

Clear Backup procedures Genie Backup Manager’s consistent and intuitive user interface makes it very user friendly and easy to use. With its wizard based interface, you can go through the steps of creating a backup with the assurance that you have done it correctly. Quick help can be found on each wizard page for guidance. GBM Agent resides in the system tray (notification tray), allowing access to many of the backup functions, but without the need to open GBM 8.0 itself. Backup and Restore by a simple double-click Run your backups using shortcuts created on the desktop. Moreover, you can double-click the backup file to automatically open the restore interface to recover data from the selected job, or create self-restorable backups to serve the same purpose when GBM is not installed on the computer. Familiar data selection interface Folder and file selections in GBM use the same style as Windows Explorer. When your connection fails, GBM will resume: Genie Backup Manager provides reliable backups even after a connection failure. Regardless as to whether you are backing up to network locations, FTP, external drives, or Genie Online Backup. After a connection failure, GBM automatically resumes the backup job, once the connection is re-established. When backing up network locations, and if they are unavailable at the time of a backup job, GBM detects missing backup drives and logs them in the backup log. Storage Optimization.Make the most out of what you have
Save space: If the amount of storage available for backup jobs is becoming an issue of concern for you, it is possible to either increase the level of compression to the maximum available (level 10) or purge old backups. For example, if you only want to save 5 copies of My Documents, copy #1 becomes copy #2 and the new backup becomes copy #1, while copy number #5 is effectively copy #6 and so it is deleted. So you always have only 5 copies of My Documents. This means that you can manage your storage space more efficiently and effectively and never run out of storage space without forewarning. Moreover, Mirror and the backup type called Incremental is also a great option to backup changed files yet also limit how much space is utilized to backup on each media by using fixed split size.
